San Jose North - Week 3

Dear Family,

This week was really really good, I really like being with Sister Spencer. She works so hard and I want to be like her. My mind is changing about missionary work and I like that. Our days go by so fast, its kind of crazy. The area we are in has a lot of hills so we basically get to hike all day, every day, which is fun because I didn't like hiking too much before the mission but its changing now. The landscape here is really beautiful, I feel lucky to be here. Yesterday they told us missionaries we could go to the birthday devotional for President Nelson, and so we got to watch it.  It was just kinda weird to just watch something and just sit for a while. It was really beautiful, I was thinking about how lucky we are to have a living prophet.  The spirit was giving me a lot of different revelations yesterday. Here are a two that I would like to take into my week:

1) In Relief Society we read a talk about the nature of Heavenly Father, and in the talk it said something about how he is grateful for our imperfect efforts in completing his work here on Earth. I'm not gonna lie, I got choked up reading that because as missionaries we just want to make sure we're doing our part, and that its making some sort of a difference and its cool that our Father in Heaven is proud of us in our efforts.
2) In the devotional we were being spiritually fed and relaxing and enjoying the devotional, and its different because as missionaries you are doing things for people all day and so you don't get a lot of time to do something that's just for you other than for our studies, and I like that that's how it is. It's kind of like how you enjoy Christmas as a kid but as you get older Christmas becomes stressful because you're trying to do things for other people, but you're happy because you want other people to have a good Christmas. If that makes any sense. I just like how we get to focus on other people every day. I want to keep this up after the mission too.

Anyways, thanks family for the support,

Love
